The internet is a marvelous gift. It’s completely changed the NFL betting landscape, giving us the power to bet on football games from the comfort of our own homes – or while we’re on the road. We can even bet on games while they’re happening. If you want a new spin on your 2019-2020 NFL betting choice, in-game betting, aka live betting, lets you bet on the outcome of a game in progress. Or, you can make prop bets about things like the outcome of the next play. So if you know the 2019-2020 New York Jets are going to run on the next play, you can put your head coach cap on and bet on it!
Live betting is such a special bet type, it even has its own page at Bovada. When a game is in progress, you’ll see the LIVE MODE button when you view that game on the NFL odds board. Tap or click that button to open the Live Betting page for the game in question; you’ll see a point spread, a money line and a total for that event, with the odds refreshed and updated as the game progresses. You’ll also see many live props that have been made available. Choose the bets you want to make, and they’ll be added to your Bet Slip – just make sure you get your wager in before the next play.
In the Air, On the Ground
The big advantage of live betting, aside from the sheer number of NFL wagers you can place, is how it lets you use your football expertise to gain an edge on the competition. For example, if you study the play-calling tendencies of the coaches involved, you can get a better sense of whether the next play will be a run or a pass. This is especially useful in short yardage 4th-down situations, where some coaches are predictably conservative, and others are more likely to go for it.
The least exotic wagers in NFL betting (spread, moneyline and total) are still the ones with the most betting value when you go live. If you’re familiar with second-half bets and fourth-quarter bets, you’ll already know about the ebb and flow of NFL games, and how teams that fall behind often come back later in the game. Use this knowledge to your advantage by placing live bets when the odds are in your favor. It’s a great way to get in some action while you’re watching the game, too. Make sure to give live betting a try at Bovada and get the most bang for your football buck.
